WG 2980 The Plan
So, a funny thing happened on the way to this comic (and Monday’s)…Thursday afternoon, I took our big dog Roxy down to my son’s so he could watch her while the wife & I went to visit our daughter. As I was unhooking Roxy from her harness, she reared back & jammed my thumb back in my drawing hand, which later swelled up, along with the whole hand, making it useless for me to try & produce anything. So, we went away for the weekend that Friday & I put a brace on my hand to keep it from swelling any more. At the hotel, we get a text from my son telling me he & his girlfriend had been exposed to COVID from her aunt. Great! But they both took the test & it came back negative. Whew!…or…not! Sunday, I was informed that he had retested and it came back positive & he was showing the classic signs of this modern plague….gggrrrrr! So far, it’s mild symptoms, so let’s hope that is that…for him. Monday (today), he told me that his girlfriend now tested positive & is starting to show symptoms. Flock!
Why am I worried? I wear a mask everywhere, make sure I wash my hands, carry two bottles of hand sanitizer with me, rarely leave the house. Silly me, removed the mask as I entered his apartment. He’s been here to the Grove many times, he’s my son, he’s in my circle, right? Nope. That was his old apartment that was a block away. He now lives in an apartment efficiency right next door to his girlfriend’s parents, who are having the aunt stay there. Son of a biscuit!
Even though I was only in the apartment for less than five minutes & I kept my distance of 6 feet, I was maskless. So, once we got back to town today, I went & got a COVID test done, even though I am not showing any symptoms (beyond anxiety as with my asthma, high blood pressure, and cancer, getting this would not likely be a walk in the park for me). I get the results back in three to five days…wish me luck!
Wow sorry that you and your family are going through this. Perilous times indeed.
Oh best of luck with the test. My kids an I are protecting ourselves as much as we can because no one else is going to. Double masks, I sew 2 multi-layer masks together, gloves, and face shields or goggles. Hey, it’s what the ER doctor wore when I took my daughter in after a fall. So far we have all tested negative when we go in to donate blood every eight weeks.
Keep us posted. We are all rooting for you.
Thank you!
Hey Grovers, good news! Got my test results back today, & it’s negative!
