Mock-up Cover For Volume 1 Book

Monday, April 26th, 2010

Hey Grovers!  Thought I’d share with you the mock-up of the cover of the book I am in the planning stages of putting together for sale.  Right now I am in the mock-up stage, as you can tell by the title of this blog entry, so the cover is nearly final but not quite…there is still some tweaking room.

The mock-up for Willow's Grove Kidnapped Saga Volume 1 front cover

Willow's Grove Kidnapped Saga - Volume 1 Front Cover Mock-up

I’m still not settled on the star background and might go with the background for the website, since I am using the font for the site.  Let me know what you all think about either the current background design for the cover or using the starry background of the website for it.

Onomatopoeia Day Coming Soon!

Saturday, May 1st, 2010

Get ready folks! Monday, May the 3rd, will be the 2nd Annual Onomatopoeia Day! What is Onomatopoeia Day you might ask? It’s simple, we take the word onomatopoeia, which is the actual word for sound effects: BANG! WHOOSH! ZOOM! POOT! that is used in literature or comics, and substitute those BANGS WHOOSHES ZOOMS and POOTS with the word ONOMATOPOEIA! It started last year when Brian Anderson of Dog Eat Doug and I chatted back and forth on Twitter about using onomatopoeia as an actual sound effect in a comic. One thing led to another and a handful of webcomic artists participated and we had a great time. Now, the fine folks at Webcomic Planet (of which I am a member of their collective) have taken the reigns and are publicizing it (I count from the comments here that there are at least 17 who will be trying to participate, plus at least another bunch of folks from last year who will jump in, too) and I hope to see it grow every year. So stop on by Monday to see my contribution and then stop on over to Webcomic Planet to see a list of sites who are joining in the fun!

Police Search For Cartoonists’ Missing Beard

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

Local police were called to the home of Willow’s Grove cartoonist Karl Kleese after a report of his beard gone missing. “I just stepped out of the shower and looked in the mirror and noticed it was just gone! All that was left was my bare bulbous chin and a soul patch. I’m devastated!” The officer made his report and muttered something under his breath this reporter could not understand with the exception of the words “crazy cartoonists.” Stay tuned for further details!
